White Irish Soda Bread
When I was living in England, I used to get irish soda bread from the store ALL the time. For those who don’t know, orish soda bread is special in that it doesn’t use yeast. Hence, you don’t wait for the dough to rise. And it’s got buttermilk in it, making it super yummy and easy to make. I saw a lot of recipes online use eggs and butter, and plenty of other ingredients, but then that’s a cake. Real, traditional soda bread only has flour, baking soda, salt, and buttermilk. Well I added some sugar in this one but just so it is softer. So there you go:
Ingredients
2 cups flour // 1 cup buttermilk // 3/4 tsp baking soda // 1/2 tsp salt // 2 tbsp sugar //
Instructions
Mix the flour, baking soda, salt, and suhar together // gradually add the milk to make a soft non-sticky dough (add some flour or buttermilk if needed) // Make a round shape and coat the top of the dough with some buttermilk then flour and make a cross on it using a knife // Bake for about 35-45 min in a preheated oven at 425°F
Ta da!
