White Irish Soda Bread
When I was living in England, I used to get irish soda bread from the store ALL the time. For those who don’t know, orish soda bread is special in that it doesn’t use yeast. Hence, you don’t wait for the dough to rise. And it’s got buttermilk in it, making it super yummy and easy to make. I saw a lot of recipes online use eggs and butter, and plenty of other ingredients, but then that’s a cake. Real, traditional soda bread only has flour, baking soda, salt, and buttermilk. Well I added some sugar in this one but just so it is softer. So there you go: Ingredients…
Patriotic Popsicles (Strawberry/Blueberry)
To be honest with you guys, I was never a massive fan of ice cream. Don’t get me wrong, I do eat it when given the occasion and I find looking at ice cream cones pictures satisfying. However, I could stop eating it for the rest of my life 😌 However, with #popsicleweek and two national holidays coming up (Canada Day and the 4th of July), I thought let’s make some healthy popsicles. So there you go 🙂 Ingredients 1 1/4 cup yoghurt // 1 tbsp honey // 3/4 cup strawberries // 1/3 cup blueberries // 2 tsp lemon juice // 2 tsp sugar Instructions Wash the fruits and dice…
Chocolate Protein Balls
Guys. In the past to criminals in the Roman Empire, they used to attach each one of their limbs to a horse. Then order the horses to run in all directions. Ouch. I feel like life is trying to do that to me. So many things to do which have NOTHING to do with each other. Gotta process my simulations result. Prepare my french lessons (I’m a french teacher too). Work on the model of a CubeSat satellite we’re trying to send into space – if we win the competition – with ANOTHER team. On top of that I’m preparing for the Dobson cup. Now don’t get it wrong, I…
Classic Fluffy Bagels
Ah Bagels. God’s gift to man. One of the best inventions of all times. Now I used to live in the UK, where bagels with salmon and cream cheese are an institution (and I do miss them a lot). Montreal bagels are also delicious, albeit different. Basically, british bagels are fluffier and Montreal bagels are “harder” and poached in honey water, to give them a sweet flavor. I wanted to try and make my own bagels the other day, and after having looked at various recipes online, I came with my own recipe, light and vegan 🙂 Talking with different people, I always get ‘baking is hard’ – it isn’t,…
Summer Fruity Porridge
I absolutely love berries. Especially when they’re frozen! I’ve never been a big fan of sweets, thank goodness, so frozen berries are a good compromise, especially during hot spring and summer days. So I tend to put frozen berries on top of as many dishes as I can, porridge included I made this porridge a while ago and thought I might share it with you 🙂 Let me know what you think in the comments below! Ingredients 3/4 cup of rolled oats // 300 ml of almond milk // 1.5 tsp of honey or maple syrup // 1 tsp of chia seeds // 1/3 cup of peach slices //…
Veggie Summer Springrolls
I can’t believe we’re already halfway through Ramadan, woohoo! Anyway, I am still at home meaning still on full mode turtle. Mornings starting at 3pm, like aaaahhh! So good to be back home. I don’t even wanna go back to London ever again. Actually, I do a little bit. See, I’ve bought this book with the 100 best cafés in London. I spent like 4 years there and just realized there are plenty of amazing cafés I haven’t been to yet. Now the thing is Ramadan ends on the 5th of july, meaning it’s gonna be a real marathon to try and check out all these amazing places. No worries,…
Sugar-free, Vegan Blueberries and Apple Pie
I once said I don’t have a sweet tooth. Which is true. But I also love to experiment in the kitchen, and see what I can come up with. I used some blueberries the other day to make a sorbet, and I was left with half of the bag. I then saw a picture of this blueberries pie somewhere on the internet, and I was inspired to do prepare a pie 🙂 So there you go, gonna share the goodness with you!  Ingredients  For the crust: 1 cup rice flour // 2/3 cups self-raising flour // 4 tbsp of coconut oil // 1/4-1/2 cup of water, to bind the dough  For…
Healthy Banana Bread
Banana bread is definitely one of my favorite desserts. I  can eat a whole load by myself, and I’m not even lying. Yes, that’s full of sugar but…it’s quite the point, right ? Anyway, I had some bananas and I love to experiment, so I attempted to recreate the banana bread but with a healthy twist. It may taste a bit different than the usual, sugar and butter loaded banana free, but it is equally as good. I had different seeds at home and some raisins so I just threw everything in, to get an overload of vitamins and yumminess 🙂 Anyways, here is the recipe for y’all! Healthy Banana…
Chickpea, Leek and Onion Fry Up with Hummus
My mom is a wonderful cook, and to this day I still believe no one compared to her. When I was a kid, she was never satisfied nor did she enjoy the food she cooked. I never really understood until I entered into the cooking and baking world myself. Sometimes I feel like, when you make something yourself, no matter how delicious it is, it is never the same as eating something someone else made for you. This week I am eating vegetarian food only, which is really good as not only I love veggies but I also get to play with different kinds of food to create balanced recipes.…
Protein and Blueberry Oats
Who else loves oats ? So versatile, easy and fast to prepare. And most of all, very nutritious 🙂 I am a HUGE bread lover and have that usually for breakfast, usually with eggs or yogurt, but today I wanted to change and went with oats. I directly toppes the mix with blueberries and added boiling water. Then I mivrowaved everything cause I love when frozen blueberries become soft and juicy 💜. I usually have whey protein powder, but I found soya protein at Whole Foods Market yesterday so I wanted to try it and – gotta say – it taste muuuuch more better than whey protein powder. But that’s…
